#MissAmericaFit
#MissAmericaFit for me is the only way to survive amidst the stress of being a young attorney. Being in such an intense profession, I have to take proactive steps daily to care for myself from the inside out. Going to law school and representing others as a lawyer has been one of the best preparations for the job of Miss Louisiana, and ultimately Miss Amrica. I have put into practice detailed time management, healthy eating, daily exercise, and balancing all of my leadership positions. To be a full-time Miss Louisiana who serves the state, I must be physically and mentally healthy to handle the high intensity of this job.
My Journey
Healthy living has been a long journey for me throughout my life. As a child, I was involved in practically every sport. However, I found my passion not in team sports, but in music and riding horses. As I got older, my studies got more intense. I had to reinvigorate my passion for healthy living by eating healthier and using exercise as stress relief. Over the last year, I have fallen in love with Pure Barre, yoga, and reformer pilates and become a FANATIC! Because of my newfound passion, I have the energy to live my life to the fullest.

My Practice
The new #MissAmericaFit initiative has empowered me to take even greater steps to live my life to the fullest! I am a member of Woman's Wellness, love supplementing my regular exercise with fun exercises through ClassPass, and am always looking for a friend to join me on a new exercise adventure. This year, I have been so privileged to work with a dietician, personal trainer, and my amazing primary care physician to develop a routine that keeps me in not only excellent physical health but also mental health as I transition into a highly stressful career.

I began my #MissAmericaFit journey back in 2019 - joining so many gyms, boutique exercise classes, and diets until I ultimately found my groove in my final year of law school. Being a Barrister's Bowl Cheerleader and FUELING my body with the energy it needs allowed me to flourish in the Miss America Opportunity, in my career, and in life.
I felt so confident in my health after joining that I decided to help lead Magnolia Woods Elementary as their captain in the Own Your Own Health Fitness Challenge. Leading a Title I school close to the LSU Law campus initially felt like a daunting task, but it instilled in my heart an even greater passion to serve so many children like those at Magnolia Woods Elementary as Miss Louisiana.

My Plan
As Miss Louisiana, I will take great pride in my role as a statewide spokesperson for healthy living. I have created an interactive presentation and set of activities I would like to take to community groups and schools across the state to promote the foundation for healthy living - exercise, healthy food choices, and positive decision-making.

My Healthy Living program is currently a 20-minute presentation on healthy eating, social well-being, and respecting the physical boundaries of ourselves and others. This is followed by an interactive physical fitness PARTY!! I start the music and we do follow-the-leader style dancing and exercise. For schools with large presentation technology, kids love "Just Dance" style videos that can supplement my instruction. I also have activities using jump ropes and hula hoops for schools with athletic equipment available.

One of my main goals for the year as Miss Louisiana is to expand the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports' Own Your Own Health initiative. I would love to place a focus on improving physical health and nutrition in Title I schools. Since these schools also offer all of their students free lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision, I would like to combine a physical fitness challenge like Own Your Own Health with a healthy eating component. This might look like a self-recording of the physical exercise a student did for one day plus bonus points for each serving of fruits and vegetables. Additionally, I would like to introduce this healthy eating incentivization for Title I high school sports teams in their own challenge and reward them with new equipment or a tour of the State Capitol with Miss Louisiana for the team that records the most steps and healthy eating habits per person.
